A hug says a million things with no words

A real hug, front to front arms circled snugly tells you that you matter you are loved. A side hug, like your too busy to tell them they matter is just that. They are.

I'm very proud that my oldest 3 boys know how to properly give a hug. They are willing to do it in front of their friends, in front of strangers, anywhere.  As they get older, and stand taller than I do, and their arms are longer than mine, I feel like the kid these days. They can encircle me like I use to them.

It's such a comforting feeling, when I'm feeling unloved and unappreciated. Their hugs give me strength to keep going.  Their hugs remind me God is present in my life.

Hugs are powerful, mighty powerful.

In her shoes...

He's lovingly gazing in her eyes, his hand holding hers. They are in an exchange you can not hear. You can tell just by seeing it with your eyes, he adores her.

You've been warned, the first time you see your son with your ex's wife will sting like no other. You thought before that very moment he could love no other the way he does you. Then you see it.

Your world shatters in a way you didn't know was possible. It feels like you've been replaced. Having now been on both sides of the fence, I can honestly tell you that you haven't.

There is always the every day mom and then the fun mom. Every day mom, holds her baby(s) when they are sick. She washes their clothes, makes them countless meals, cleaning up after every one.  She goes to practices and games, because she wants her child to feel loved, even if she doesn't know a thing about the game. She rubs funky feet, she cuddles on the couch. She wipes tears that others have created.

Every day mom slipped in a pair of shoes that were too small and uncomfortable, she's breaking the mold. She's defining a new level to what mom really means. Her  baby(s) might not appreciate every day mom until later in life but she keeps on trucking. She's willing to fight the fight to show them, Love conquers all!

Fun mom, only has to be a parent when it's fun or convenient. There's not a whole lot I can tell you about fun mom, because I've always been every day mom. I've only sat on one side of the fence on that one.

What I can tell you is that eventually love does conquer all, and how you see that unfold between the two moms is a choice you have to make.  Every day mom will hold firm and steady, because one day even in the presence of fun mom  her hand will be held. It's a huge statement that every day mom is a source of comfort that fun can never replace.

Rich in Love

Growing up, we didn't have much.  My mom and dad use to tell us we were rich in love.  We always had what we needed, and the parents tried very hard to save up or put on lay-a-way what we wanted. Being a farmer's wife, there are good times financially and there are bad times.  Fortunately for my husband, I've not known much more than rough times.  It's just a way of life, and God always provides for us. It doesn't really scare me.  I know no matter what, God and my family will have our back.

There are so many things I never realized about farming, and so much more I need to learn. Things I don't remember being taught about, or maybe I just didn't pay enough attention to in school. My husband with the help of his brothers grew the farm from 17 acres to 2000. To keep that going, they all have to work other jobs.

My husband would much rather be farming full time, but the name of his trucking company says it all, Broke Farmer Trucking. Crops due to weather, have been minimal on dry land. That makes for lean times, with a lot of effort.

For me growing up, I never thought much about the people growing the food that ended up on our table.  Never once did it cross my mind when it never rained that someone else's peace of mind was drying up too.  I wake each day with a prayer these days, thanking God for the struggles that only make us stronger and I pray for every farmer who needs rain so badly, and thank him for those that don't.

We may never be rich money wise, but what we are rich on is Faith and Love.  Two of the biggest things God asks from us. What a mess our lives would be without those two blessings.
